Anatomy of Man

What distinguishes a human being from other species is primarily brain- the thought process- the ability to communicate. Other distinguishing features of man are inquisitiveness, curiosity, thrill and titillation and variety. The distinction, which is not necessarily a positive feature, has perhaps brought more harm than good to mankind except when we confine it to the gains in terms of modern scientific and technological advancements resulting into more comforts, luxuries and sophisticated weapons of mass murder. When Adam and Eve tasted the forbidden fruit, was it beginning of knowledge or ignorance, is debatable. We are wilder and more savage than the savages and the cavemen even animals in our actions, behaviour and thoughts except in our philosophy and poetry. In all fairness to animals, they are much more civilised than us in instincts and behaviour.Animals do not envy, they do not revenge nor do they interfere with others. They fight from the front. They do not stab at the back. They do not store or hoard. They life in the present and have no greed. Should we not reflect whether our civilization has not made us greedier and more selfish. I am not arguing against man’s quest for exploring the mysteries of nature. Man should and will. But, man should not forget that we are a part of nature. Whatever we aim to achieve, we must not disturb the natural balance. For man made problems, we must not damage nature. If we follow Darwinian principle, there should be nothing wrong with cannibalism. We claim to be civilized but are still cannibals in our attitude and behaviour.

Education is an easy target for criticism because its stated aims are often so nobly ambitious that they have little chance of being realized. We expect the teacher and particularly the Principal a paragon of all virtues as if she/ he is not a human being and is devoid of any needs and desires.”

    Dear Employer:

    First, a brief introduction about me will be appropriate.
    I began my career as a teacher at the young age of 22 years. Gradually, I climbed the most sought for ladder as Principal of a highly reputable Public School. In between, I had the privilege of working in schools of repute namely, Birla Senior Secondary School, Pilani; Delhi Public School, Ranipur as Head Of English Faculty and as Principal, Army School.

    During my 30 years academic voyage, I visited a number of reputable Schools of the country; attended numerous workshops, seminars and conferences; held important assignments in CBSE, NCERT, NOS and was instrumental in establishing a good number of schools and was in the panel of Selection Committees/ Management Committees of many schools.

    As a teacher and Principal, I have very minutely studied and analysed the intricacies of School academics and administration. I observed that despite unemployment on one hand, it is difficult to find good teachers and more difficult to find a good Principal. More importantly, retention of good teachers and Principals is really a challenge in today’s scenario.

    This is why, after my voluntarily resigning as Principal of DPS, I decided to extend my services to the employers, who are in search of good teachers and Principals and are seen advertising to fill in the vacancies on the look out for good teachers/Principals. I may like to emphasize that there are many dedicated and committed teachers, who need stimulating environment to nurture and experiment innovative ideas. Ultimately, it is the head of the institution who makes or mars. He should be the one who believes in:
    Working yet not taking credit
    Leading yet not dominating
    Creating without claiming ownership
    Guiding without interfering.

    A. Setting up the school- building and infra-structure

    B. Selection of Staff and Principal

    Advertising on behalf of my clients and holding preliminary rounds of written test/ interview with the help of subject experts and submit the list of short-listed candidates to the Selection Committee for final Selection.

    C. Guidance and Supervision
    Advising the management on bringing about overall improvement in the academic and co- curricular activities of the school.
    Preparing the Standard Operational Procedures and other rules and regulations.
    Carrying out academic, administrative and financial audit of the school and preparing annual appraisal of the staff and Principal.
    Arranging workshops, seminars for the teachers and the Principal.
    Arranging the visit of eminent educationists, psychologists and counsellors.
    Arranging educational tours, excursions for students.
    Informing the teachers about the latest changes in the syllabus, examination pattern.
    Arranging vocational guidance for the students.
    Other administrative help like setting up the library, labs and office documentation etc.

Humankind is one

Can there be a world without barriers of boundries? I think humanity is yet to develop fully. Though this is an idealistic situation and history of human evolution is at odds with this, I am sure our civilisation will reach a point when we do not discriminate between nationalities or races. There is another pssibility- this civilisation may be wiped out completely and humans evolve afresh as per the vision of the mysterious creator. It appears we have created such havoc in terms of ecological disater and many artificial boundries. We may either realise the folly or be prepared to face the upheaval.
